Airport:

The main airport for the Charlotte region is the Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). This is a large international airport with lots of rideshare, taxi, bus (Route 5 Sprinter), and rental car options to the downtown area.

We ask that you please arrange your own transportation to and from the airport.

Lodging:

For hotel accommodations, there are a number of hotels within a short distance from the Dubois Center City Building (our conference venue).

For the conference, philoSOPHIA has a block of rooms reserved at the Holiday Inn Charlotte Center City. The rate for these rooms is $129/night and the booking information is available below. The hotel has wheelchair accessible and ADA compliant rooms available. This room rate will be available until 12:00 PM EST on May 1st, 2023.

Parking at the Dubois Center

There are a number of pay-to-park options within walking distance of The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City. Seventh Street Parking Deck is a short walk through First Ward Park. Visitors can pay to park by the hour. Additional pay-to-park options can be found on the Preferred Parking website. The closest of these is 422 E 9th Street on the corner of 9th and Brevard Street. Other nearby lots are at 8th & College, 9th & College, and 9th & Tryon. There are metered spaces on Brevard and 8th Street to pay during the day. These meters are free after 6pm weekdays and all day on weekends.

To park at 422 E. 9th Street gravel lot, you will need to download the park mobile app, pick zone #96422, and put the space number. There is no pay station in this lot.

Lactation Spaces and Child-Friendly Spaces

We will have a designated lactation room available on the main floor (11th floor) where the talks will be held during the conference. The room will include a sign that anyone using the room can post on the outside that will let attendees know that the room is occupied during use. There are also gender-accessible restrooms with sinks on this floor as well.

Participants are also welcome to chestfeed wherever they feel comfortable, and we welcome attendees of all ages (including very young ones!) at the event.

Additionally, the conference building is located directly adjacent to a large sunny and open park area with lots of grass and benches, and there is a playground in the park as well.

While we will not have formal childcare on site (mostly for the legal gymnastics around this, not out of will/concern), we are happy to help support attendees’ participation in whatever way we can. Quiet Space Available for All Conference Attendees

There will also be a designated "Quiet Room" on the 6th floor (accessed via elevator), which will be available for anyone who needs a quiet space during the conference.
